Assumptions = the REAL ENEMY
Hello my lovely,
This week I want to take you behind the scenes of a little “wake-up call” I had recently.
For years, I believed my team had everything under control when it came to keeping our storage and back-of-house areas clean, organized, and professional. I mean, it’s their daily workspace — of course it would be neat and in order, right?
Wrong.
The day I decided to join in on a full clean-up and stock-take, I realized how dangerous assumptions can be in business. I found expired products hidden at the back of cupboards, dirty storage baskets with mould (yes, mould! 😱), and random clutter that had simply been “living” in our space for no reason. It was scary.
But here’s the thing: once we rolled up our sleeves, threw away what didn’t serve us, labeled every shelf, and restored order, the energy shifted completely. Suddenly, the space felt fresh, lighter, and inspiring. And that got me thinking — a spring clean isn’t just about tidying up. It’s a business strategy.
👉 Here are 5 reasons why every spa or salon owner should make spring cleaning a non-negotiable:
1. It saves you money 💸
Expired products, overstocked items, and duplicates cost you. Cleaning helps you spot what’s wasted, streamline your inventory, and make smarter ordering decisions.
2. It improves efficiency ⏱
An organized space = faster service. When everything has a labeled spot, your team spends less time searching and more time serving clients.
3. It protects your brand reputation 🌟
Imagine a client peeking behind the curtain and seeing dust, clutter, or worse… mould. Yikes. Clean, neat spaces reflect the level of professionalism your clients expect from your treatments.
4. It boosts team morale 💪
Doing this together creates ownership and pride. A fresh, organized environment motivates your team and shows them that you’re invested in working alongside them — not just managing from a distance.
5. It clears mental clutter 🧘
Physical clutter often mirrors mental clutter. A clean, well-structured space frees up creative energy, focus, and drive — for you and your team.
✨ My challenge to you this week:
Set aside one full day with your team. Be physically present. Tidy, label, and be ruthless about throwing away what doesn’t belong. You’ll be amazed at how this simple act of “business housekeeping” can spark new energy, clarity, and momentum.
Remember, assumptions are the enemy. Leadership is rolling up your sleeves and setting the standard.
So, when last did you spring clean your spa or salon?
To fresh spaces and thriving businesses, hugs and kisses
