If your business is struggling, read this (it might sting)
Hellllllooooo my lovely,
I had one of those oh damn moments this week.
You know the ones where you suddenly see something so clearly you can’t unsee it?
I’ve been running my Retail Masterclass — and for the first time, I invited the therapists and front desk team to join in, not just the owners and managers. After two solid weeks of one-on-one conversations with teams from different salons and spas, it hit me like a brick to the forehead...
If a business isn’t selling retail — it’s not the staff’s fault.
If the business has constant drama and staff issues — not the staff’s fault.
If the business is dead quiet — still not the staff’s fault.
It’s the manager’s fault.
It’s the owner’s fault.
Full stop.
Because staff do what they see. They follow the example you set. They sell the way they’ve been shown. They behave the way they’ve been led.
Now — before anyone clutches their pearls — let me be crystal clear: this is not about undermining your position, your skills, or your experience as a manager or owner. It’s the opposite. No matter how good we think we are, the businesses that really fly have a coach. Top founders, elite athletes, high-performing leaders — they all do. Getting help isn’t weakness; it’s strength. It shows you’re willing to be vulnerable, keep learning, and actually grow.
And that’s the scary realisation I landed on: most owners and managers need more help than they think — not because they’re bad, but because they’re responsible. When leadership levels up, everything else follows.
If you’re reading this and feeling a little hot under the collar… good.
That means you care. It means you know you could be steering your ship better.
So here’s my invitation: let’s talk.
No judgement, no fluff — just a proper conversation about where you’re at, what’s holding your business back, and how to actually fix it.
Book a consultation with me here → its simple, send me an email and I will book some time to chat to you. Im not going to use automated booking links for this, if you really want to chat to me take the time to email and let me know personally.
Because your business will only fly as high as you do.
And if you’re stuck, your whole team is stuck.
Talk soon and much love,
Marisa
P.S. If you think your “staff problem” is really a staff problem, I dare you to spend 30 minutes with me. You might just have the same scary realisation I did — and a plan to change it.
