The One Thing You Can’t Get Back

Hola,

I’m writing this from a small airport in Asturias, Spain. I’ve just said goodbye to my dad.

He turns 96 soon. And because he lives here, I only get to see him two or three times a year. Every visit feels incredibly special... and incredibly heavy at the same time.

Yesterday after lunch, he asked me to sit in the sun with him.

We sat there for about an hour, looking out at the mountains. No real conversation. Just quiet. Just presence. Just... time.

He’s very old and quite frail now, so words are few. But that hour, I don’t actually have the words to describe what it meant. It’s one of those moments you feel more than you can explain. And then today, I leave.

And the emotions are... a bit of a fruit salad.

It got me thinking about something we don’t speak about enough in business:

Time. 

Not productivity. Not efficiency. Not squeezing more into the day.

Just... time. Because the truth is we don’t get it back.

Not with our families.

Not with our clients.

Not with our teams.

And yet, in business, we rush it.

We rush consultations.

We rush treatments.

We rush team conversations.

We rush decisions.

We’re so focused on “what’s next” that we forget to be fully present in what’s now.

But here’s the shift:

✨ The client doesn’t remember how fast you were, they remember how you made them feel.

✨ Your team doesn’t remember every instruction, they remember the moments you truly saw them.

✨ Your business isn’t built in the big moments, it’s built in the small, consistent ones.

That extra 5 minutes with a client.

That genuine check-in with your therapist.

That moment where you pause, listen, and connect.

That’s where the magic is.

That’s where loyalty is built.

That’s where trust grows.

That’s where your brand actually comes to life.

So this week, a simple thought:

Don’t just manage your time be present in it.

Because the reality is...

One day, those ordinary moments will be the ones that meant everything.

Make them count.
